TRUMPET LESSONS

Kids

In your first few lessons (if you’re a beginner!), we’ll be focusing on the sound of the trumpet and jump straight into playing your first few notes on the instrument. We’ll have a great time exploring all of the noises a trumpet makes and how we can use them to make so many different kinds of music. You will learn to read music as we go (if you haven’t already) and we will follow tutor books, such as ‘Team Brass’ by Duckett and the ‘Abracadabra’ books from Tomlinson, along with a practice diary, which will help track your progress. As your musical ability grows, and if you wish, we can start working through grades from ABRSM or Trinity, which act as great stepping stones on your way to becoming a fantastic trumpet player! But the really important thing is that you will have so much fun learning to play the trumpet! You will make many silly noises and many beautiful noises, and they will all be a part of our music making!

Adults

It is never too late to pick up a new instrument or to return to music-making (but if you’re reading this, then I expect you already know that!). Much the same as our kids’ lessons, I will always ensure that you’re having fun while learning the trumpet. We will work together to find out your goals for trumpet playing – whether you would like to go down the traditional route of taking grades, or build up your own repertoire of pieces you’ve always wanted to play. As a current student at the RCS, I have access to lots of interesting brass music, which I look forward to sharing with you as we build on your trumpet skills.

Do come along to a trial lesson, where we can discuss your interest in the trumpet and get you set up for this exciting new project!

Testimonial

My daughter has enjoyed Hanah’s lessons since she started. Hanah‘s encouragement gave her motivation. In spite of the COVID-19 situation, Hanah’s lessons were never stopped. She quickly switched to online lesson from in-person, then introduced the individual log on page on the website. Since the first lockdown, school and social activities were different from before. Although Hanah’s lessons are online, these are regular events and give us some sort of normality, which we appreciate. Hanah is very creative, enthusiastic and well organised which we like!
